Reflections on Activism and Extractive Industries: Stories from Romania, Peru and beyond

On the 4th of March our guest speakers will travel to the Netherlands to attend an Expert Lunch Meeting in the afternoon and a debate in the evening at Wageningen University and Research Centre.

Our guest speakers are Nancy Fuentes León, MSc in Local Development and a specialist of the impact of gold mining on water systems. She is actively involved in social movements trying to preventthe mining industry in the region of Cajamarca, Peru, to do more damage;

Roxana Pencea, specialized in communication campaigns and lobby strategies for environmental issues. Next to her work for Mining Watch Romania she continously supports environmental movements to transmit messages to the media.

and Tudor Bradatan, MSc Social Communication, cofounder of the organization Mining Watch Romania, and communication coordinator of the campaign ´Save Rosia Montana`, Romania`s most important environmental campaign 

The Lunch Meeting will be held between 12.30 and 14.30 at the Leeuwenborch, and is meant for MSc, Phd and professors who have experience/ expertize in the field of mining or are otherwise interested and feel the urge to contribute to this discussion.

The evening debate will be held between 18.15 and 21.00 in room 031 + 034 at the Forum building. In the event our three speakers will first take turns to present their cases after which a panel session and discussion with participation of the public will be held.
